Our Founder

BM NOTE:
IF NEW PATIENTS HAVE NEVER HEARD OF WALEED, THEY SHOULD BE ABLE TO READ ABOUT HIM HERE. Why does he refer to himself as  “originator” and not simply “founder?” I’m including some notes in the below copy that I think would be helpful for patients to read.

CURRENT COPY ON NEURO-IFRAH ORGANIZATION WEBSITE:

Waleed Al-Oboudi, MOT, OTR/L is a therapist and educator in the field of rehabilitation nationally and internationally for over 30 years. He is the originator of the Neuro-IFRAH® approach and is known for his concepts and clinical skills in the treatment and management of patients affected by a stroke or brain injury. He is the originator of all his intermediate to advanced concepts and applications. He is also the originator of the IFRAH® concepts and applications for patients affected by orthopedic conditions.

[BM NOTE: Can we include anything about WHY Waleed got into the field of rehabilitation in the first place and WHY he ultimately developed Neuro-IFRAH? Is there anything about his philosophy we can add in here? I feel there is an important beat missing from all of this. Something, even just a nugget of information, that connects to the heart beat of Waleed].

Mr. Al-Oboudi’s Neuro-IFRAH® approach includes a whole system of hands on therapy, training equipment, and orthotics that are taught by Neuro-IFRAH® Instructors at top facilities and are popular and effective courses nationally and internationally. Mr. Al-Oboudi’s concepts and clinical skills are self evident and aim to set a standard of excellence in rehabilitation as they have been continuously demonstrated in live national conferences, courses, and teleconferences for over 25 years.

The Story Behind The Name

A look at why originator Waleed Al-Aboudi selected each of the powerful words that comprise Neuro-Integrative Functional Rehabilitation and Habilitation

NEURO

INTEGRATIVE

“Neuro” is a word that pertains to the nervous system. This approach is intended for patients who are affected by lesions at the level of the brain stem and above..

Any variable that has an affect on the patient needs to be considered. This approach is integrative on all levels, meaning it intends to unify the parts within a whole.

  • It is integrative of all systems of the person as well as all information past and present.

  • It is integrative of all internal as well as external variables and combinations and products of these variables affecting patient response, normal or otherwise.

  • It is integrative and inclusive of fields of study as well as bodies of information.

  • It is integrative in terms of variables related to therapists, the rehabilitation team, rehabilitation programs, facilities, home, community, and other environmental variables.

BM QUESTION: Do we have Waleed’s permission to move forward with formatting this section in this way?

This question: ‘What does Neuro-IFRAH’ mean/stand for?’ is often the very first thing I’m asked, without fail. It feels important to have it on this site and rendered into a super digestible format.
